Fabio Capello says that he didn't "run away" from his position at England but believes that it was time to leave.

Fabio Capello has claimed that the reason behind his England departure was a "misunderstanding" with the Football Association.

The former Three Lions coach didn't go into detail about the incident but some have suggested that the main factor behind his exit was the FA's decision to drop John Terry from the England captaincy amid racism allegations.

"I haven't run away," Capello told an Italian television show. "This wasn't an escape, I left because there was a misunderstanding. I was happy there, but there are moments in which you decide to leave."

The 65-year-old went on to say that he would "absolutely not" return to coaching in Italy and has admitted that he wants to "relax" before deciding on his next career move.
