Everton midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin is allegedly expected to miss up to three months of action due to a thigh injury.

Everton have reportedly been handed a blow after new signing Jean-Philippe Gbamin suffered 'a significant' thigh injury.

Gbamin was absent from the Premier League fixture with Aston Villa on Friday night, a game which the Toffees lost by a 2-0 scoreline.

While Everton have said that the 23-year-old will be assessed this week, BBC Sport claims that the Ivory Coast international could be sidelined for as long as three months.

Gbamin, who was signed from Mainz 05 earlier in the summer, had featured in each of Everton's first two games against Crystal Palace and Watford.

The Merseyside giants spent in the region of £25m on Gbamin after allowing Idrissa Gueye to link up with Paris Saint-Germain.
