Everton midfielder Leon Osman has insisted that he must win a regular place in the team at Goodison Park before he can dream of earning another England call-up.
The 32-year-old was a frequent starter under former manager David Moyes but feels that he must now impress new boss Roberto Martinez if he is to maintain his berth in the lineup.
"First and foremost I need to force my way into the Everton team and that's a big step as everyone knows," he told reporters.
"You're starting again and you've got to impress. It certainly makes you get back on your toes and that's refreshing.
"Then after finally making the step-up into the England squad it's only whet my appetite for more and it was so disappointing having to miss out at the end of last season [through injury]. There's nothing I can do about it now I just need to play well and force my way back in."
Osman has two England caps to his name.
