FC Twente are reportedly interested in signing Burnley striker Wout Weghorst during the summer transfer window.
The 31-year-old is spending the 2023-24 term on loan at German side Hoffenheim from Turf Moor, where he has made just 20 appearances since signing from Wolfsburg in January 2022.
Weghorst has netted a respectable tally of five goals in 19 Bundesliga appearances so far this campaign but lost his place in the starting side for Sunday's victory over Borussia Dortmund.
The Dutchman enjoyed a high-profile loan stint at Manchester United during the second half of last season, but only managed to score twice in 31 matches for Erik ten Hag's side.
According to Twente Insite, Eredivisie outfit Twente are keen on securing the services of Weghorst from Burnley ahead of the 2024-25 season.

With the attacker a boyhood fan of the Tukkers, there has always been a special link between the player and Twente, who are currently third in the Dutch top flight.
Weghorst has openly expressed his desire to play first-team football for De Grolsch Veste at some point in his career, although it remains to be seen whether such a move could materialise in the summer.
The Dutchman's future at the Clarets is up in the air, with the striker supposedly unwilling to ply his trade in the Championship next season.
Vincent Kompany's side are sliding towards an immediate return to the second tier, sitting second bottom place of the Premier League, 11 points behind 17th-placed Nottingham Forest.

Weghorst's contract at the Lancashire club runs until the summer of 2025, meaning that Twente will have to pay a fee for the 31-year-old during the upcoming window.
The Clarets have struggled massively for goals in the top flight this season, netting 25 times in 26 contests, with only Sheffield United possessing a poorer attacking record.
Instead of exercising the option to recall Weghorst in January, Burnley recruited striker David Datro Fofana on loan from Chelsea until the end of the campaign.
The Ivorian netted a brace in the 2-2 draw against Fulham on February 3 but has failed to register a goal contribution since that game versus Marco Silva's men.
