Fiorentina 'to release Alberto Aquilani at the end of the season'

Alberto Aquilani will reportedly be allowed to leave Fiorentina after three years at the end of this season.

Fiorentina midfielder Alberto Aquilani is reportedly expected to become a free agent when the season ends next summer.

The 30-year-old is in his third year at the Serie A club after sealing a move from Liverpool following an unsuccessful three-year spell at Anfield.

According to talkSPORT, the midfielder, who cost the Reds £17m when he joined back in 2009 from Roma, is not expected to be handed a new deal in Florence next summer.

Aquilani started just nine Premier League games for Liverpool during his time on Merseyside.
