Lukas Podolski has hailed Philipp Lahm after the Germany World Cup-winning captain announced his retirement from international football.
The 30-year-old has opted to walk away from Joachim Low's side after guiding his nation to their fourth world title following a 1-0 victory over Argentina in the final in Brazil last Sunday.
Podolski, who was also part of the World Cup-winning squad, wrote on Twitter: "Ten years in the national team, three years for Bayern - Philipp It was a pleasure to play in one team with you."
Lahm, who earned 113 caps for Germany, will continue playing his club football at Bayern Munich.
