Levante snatch win at the death against nine-man Granada

Levante score twice in the final stages of their La Liga game against Granada to secure a 2-1 win at the Ciutat de Valencia on Monday evening.

Levante struck twice in the final stages of their La Liga game against Granada to secure a 2-1 win this evening at the Ciutat de Valencia.

The visitors registered the first chance of the game in the second minute when Javi Marquez's curling delivery fell kindly for Youssef El Arabi, but the subsequent header was comfortably saved.

Granada then had the chance to open the scoring from the spot when Victor Camarasa was penalised for handball in the box on the quarter-hour mark. El Arabi stepped up and duly slotted the ball into the bottom-left corner, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.

After the restart, Oier Olazabal had to be at his best to keep away dangerous efforts from Ruben Garcia and Kalu Uche that could have pulled the hosts level.

In the 72nd minute, Adrian Colunga was dismissed for clipping Barral late and from behind, leaving the visitors a man down.

The referee would go on to show two more red cards in the game, as El Arabi and Ivan Ramis were sent off after clashing with 10 minutes to go.

Levante levelled proceedings in the 88th minute when Camarasa scuffed a shot past Olazabal and into the net from long range.

However, it would get even better for the Valencia-based side when, in the fourth minute of injury time, Uche chipped the ball into the Granada box for Barral to bundle home from three yards out.

The result sees Levante edge closer to safety, just one point behind fourth-from-bottom Elche in the La Liga table, while Granada remain in 19th place.
