Fran Rico's late penalty earned Granada a point at home to Real Sociedad in La Liga this evening, as David Moyes and his men were held to a 1-1 draw at the Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes.
Sociedad worked up the game's first chance when Sergio Canales looked to break on to a through-ball from Carlos Vela, but he couldn't beat Granada keeper Oier Olazabal, who stood firm.
The hosts' stopper was on hand around the 30-minute mark to pull off a standout stop to deny Inigo Martinez's headed effort, with Vela the architect once again.
The striker had his chance to put Sociedad into a lead when Jean Sylvain Babin looked to have impeded Canales, leaving the former Arsenal frontman to fire home from the spot and leave Moyes with a 1-0 half-time lead.
Granada seemed to have gathered themselves after the interval and they made decent inroads with Allan Nyom shooting from distance, only for Real stopper Geronimo Rulli to tip the effort onto a post.
The home side were given a lifeline with just under 15 minutes to play when Ruben Pardo was adjudged to have fouled Nyom inside the box, which allowed Rico to scrape home his own penalty that Rulli almost kept out down the middle.
Granada might have claimed all three points in the final few minutes when substitute Piti fired in a free kick with his first touch, but luckily for Sociedad it flew inches past the post as the game ended 1-1.
