The 33-year-old midfielder joined Accies from Clydebank Juniors in 2012.
MacKinnon, currently coaching Hamilton's Under-16s squad with Dougie Imrie, has made 234 appearances for the Lanarkshire club, scoring 13 goals, including a recent last-minute equaliser against Dundee in the Ladbrokes Premiership.
