Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch confirms that Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper are both in contention to feature against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux on Friday night.

Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch has confirmed that Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper are both in contention to feature against Wolverhampton Wanderers for their Premier League clash at Molineux on Friday night.

Both players last played for the Whites on December 5 against Brentford and have not featured since they underwent hamstring surgery.

However, Marsch has revealed that Phillips and Cooper have taken part in full training with the rest of the first-team squad, and the pair are "eligible" to play against Wolves.

Speaking to reports at his pre-match press conference, Marsch said: "Liam and Kalvin are fully in training and eligible for this weekend. It's a positive momentum swing for us as a group."

"Big boost for them personally, but the presence they have in our team. Both quality players, great personalities. Make us stronger and stronger. See what the plan will be for their minutes, but just having them in training is big."

Marsch also hopes that Joe Gelhardt – who scored a dramatic winner against Norwich City last time out – will be fit to feature despite sustaining a minor back problem this week, while Junior Firpo is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a knee injury.

"Junior has an MCL. They think not so bad, lighter grade two. Three to five weeks from date of injury.

"Gelhardt back issue, [did not play on Tuesday for] the Under-23s, I think he will be ready, but not certain. [Lewis] Bate and [Jamie] Shackleton [picked up] injuries in that match. Leo [Hjelde] doing quite well (after knee surgery). Hoping [he can train] next week. Important to have another option."

Patrick Bamford is also available for selection on Friday, as Leeds aim to move seven points clear of the relegation zone with victory at Wolves.
