Leeds United announce that they have reached an agreement with Red Bull Salzburg for the signing of right-back Rasmus Kristensen, which will be finalised on July 1.

Leeds United have announced that they have reached an agreement with Red Bull Salzburg for the signing of right-back Rasmus Kristensen.

The 24-year-old will join the Whites on July 1 for an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of €10m (£8.6m), on a five-year contract which will run until June 2027.

Kristensen becomes Leeds' second summer signing from Salzburg after midfielder Brenden Aaronson completed his permanent move to Elland Road last month.

Speaking to the club's official website on his arrival, Kristensen said: "When I heard about the interest I looked at the project and what was going on and I was never in doubt, I was 100% convinced.

"It's a huge historical club which is playing in the best league in the world and for me, it fits everything that I love about a football club.

"I know a lot of things about the club, where I am from, a small village, most of my father's mates are Leeds fans.

"I want to compete against the best and I will do that here. I see myself as a physical, emotional power player, I like to go forward, run up and down the flank and I have a big engine for that.

"I'm a guy who puts 100% effort in every time I'm on the pitch and I'll die with my boots on.

Leeds boss Jesse Marsch, who coached Kristensen during his time with the Austrian champions, added: "Rasmus is a player who developed a lot over the last three years. He established himself at Red Bull Salzburg as one of their best players, a very good Champions League full-back, and a Danish international.

"I am totally convinced that he will continue to grow into a great Premier League full-back as well."

Kristensen enjoyed a successful 2021-22 campaign with Salzburg, scoring 10 goals and registering eight assists in 44 appearances across all competitions.

The Denmark international is currently away on international duty preparing for their upcoming Nations League fixture against Croatia on Friday.
