Preview: Liverpool Women vs. Brighton & Hove Albion Women - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Sunday's Women's Super League clash between Liverpool Women and Brighton & Hove Albion Women, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Liverpool Women will look to extend their unbeaten run to four matches when they play host to Brighton & Hove Albion Women on Sunday.

The Seagulls, meanwhile, will be hoping to claim consecutive victories after recording a 3-2 win over Everton in midweek.

After winning promotion from the Championship last season, Liverpool are on the verge of securing their WSL status for another season.

However, with six games to play and six points separating them from the one and only relegation place, they still have some work to do until they are mathematically safe from relegation.

The Reds will be looking to make it four games without defeat this weekend, after picking up five points from their last three games.

A 2-1 win over Tottenham in their most recent home match was followed by a 1-1 draw against Everton in the Merseyside derby, while their meeting with West Ham United finished goalless.

Nearly three weeks have passed since the West Ham clash, giving Liverpool plenty of time to prepare for Sunday's fixture, where they will be looking to make home advantage count after winning three of their last four WSL home matches.

In contrast to their hosts, Brighton are preparing for a third match in eight days and they will head into Sunday's game in a buoyant mood after beating Everton in midweek.

Melissa Phillips's tenure as Brighton boss began with a 3-2 defeat to Man United in the FA Cup semi-finals last weekend, but the Seagulls managed to come out the right side of a five-goal thriller against the Toffees on Wednesday.

Elisabeth Terland and Katie Robinson grabbed a goal apiece to give the Seagulls a two-goal lead, before Katja Snoeijs halved their advantage just after the hour mark.

As the contest entered the final 10 minutes, Terland found the net for a second time, and although Snoeijs pulled a goal back once again, Brighton held firm to claim their first WSL victory since November.

The narrow victory moved the Seagulls off the foot of the WSL table, leaving them two points clear of the sole relegation place with a game in hand.

After securing her first win as Brighton boss in midweek, Phillips will now look to guide the South-coast side to consecutive victories for the first time this season.

Team News

The hosts are expected to be without the services of Leanne Kiernan and Niamh Fahey, who are both sidelined with injury issues.

Melissa Lawley and Natasha Dowie stepped up their recoveries by featuring in a behind-closed-door friendly against Tottenham, and the pair are expected to be among the substitutes on Sunday.

Having avoided defeat in their last three matches, Liverpool boss Matt Beard could select an unchanged side for a fourth consecutive game.

As for the visitors, Phillips is expected to have the majority of her squad available for Sunday's contest.

After coming into the side for the midweek win over Everton, Megan Connolly is likely to retain her place with Phillips expected to name an unchanged lineup.

Having scored five goals in her 11 WSL appearances this season, Terland will pose one of Brighton's main goal threats.

Liverpool Women possible starting lineup:
Laws; Robe, Bonner, Campbell; Koivisto, Holland, Nagano, Hinds; Kearns; Stengel, Daniels

Brighton & Hove Albion Women possible starting lineup:
L. Williams; Fox, Morse, Kullberg, Pattinson; Robinson, Bance, Connolly, Sarri; Terland, Lee

We say: Liverpool Women 1-1 Brighton & Hove Albion Women

The two sides were involved in an entertaining 3-3 draw when they met in November, and with Brighton showing greater belief under Phillips, we think that they will be able to pick up a point from Sunday's away meeting with Liverpool.
