Preview: Liverpool Women vs. Brighton & Hove Albion Women - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Sunday's Women's Super League clash between Liverpool Women and Brighton & Hove Albion Women, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Liverpool Women will attempt to end their four-game winless run when they welcome Brighton & Hove Albion Women to Prenton Park on Sunday.

The visitors, meanwhile, have the chance to record a second straight victory after beating West Ham United in Wednesday's League Cup meeting.

After beginning the campaign with consecutive victories, Liverpool have gone on to win just one of their next eight matches across all competitions.

Their most recent victory took place against Leicester City earlier this month, but they have been unable to build upon that result in their last four matches against tricky opposition.

Liverpool's winless run began with a defeat to Manchester City in the League Cup group stage, before they made two trips to the capital for a 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur and a heavy 5-1 defeat against Chelsea, leaving them in sixth place in the WSL table after seven matches.

The Reds quickly turned their attention to Wednesday's League Cup clash with rivals Manchester United, where they experienced another disappointing result, as Nikita Parris scored the decisive goal to condemn Matt Beard's side to a 1-0 defeat.

Although they have struggled in recent games, Liverpool will be targeting all three points on Sunday after winning two of their three home league matches this season.

Brighton have struggled for consistency this season, having won four, drawn one and lost four of their nine competitive matches.

The Seagulls began November with a couple of encouraging results, playing out a 1-1 draw with Manchester United before claiming a surprise 1-0 victory in their away meeting with Manchester City.

They were unable to make it three games without defeat last weekend, as they fell to a 3-0 loss against Arsenal, ensuring that they finished matchday seven in eighth place.

While that result may have disappointed Melissa Phillips, she would have been pleased to her side respond with a 3-1 victory in Wednesday's League Cup meeting with West Ham United, which came courtesy of goals from Guro Bergsvand, Vicky Losada and Veatriki Sarri.

Having won three of their four competitive away matches this season, the Seagulls will be confident about their chances of taking at least a point from Sunday's contest.

Team News

Liverpool are still without the services of Jasmine Matthews, who has missed the last three matches with a hamstring injury.

Forward Natasha Flint and defender Lucy Parry are also doubts for the weekend due to hamstring and calf issues respectively.

Finland international Emma Koivisto is expected to start a second straight league game after returning from injury last weekend.

As for the visitors, goalkeeper Sophie Baggaley will come back into the side after Nicky Evrard was given the chance to play in Wednesday's League Cup match.

Julia Zigiotti Olme, Pauline Bremer and Katie Robinson are all expected to return to the starting lineup after dropping down to the bench in midweek.

Elisabeth Terland, who was also left out of the side in midweek, will be given the responsibility of leading the line after scoring five goals in seven league matches.

Liverpool Women possible starting lineup:
Laws; Clark, Bonner, Fisk; Koivisto, Hobinger, Nagano, Holland, Hinds; Van de Sanden, Haug

Brighton & Hove Albion Women possible starting lineup:
Baggaley; Thorisdottir, Bergsvand, Kullberg, Pattinson; Robinson, Zigiotti Olme, Losada, Bremer; Lee; Terland

We say: Liverpool Women 1-1 Brighton & Hove Albion Women

Having won two of their three home league games this season, Liverpool will be targeting all three points on Sunday, but we think that they may be held to a draw by the Seagulls, who have avoided defeat in three of their last four competitive matches.
