Brendan Rodgers explains Steven Gerrard injury

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers claims that the club won't know the full extent of Steven Gerrard's injury until Monday.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has said that the club won't know the full extent of Steven Gerrard's injury until next week.

The Reds' skipper went off with a hamstring problem in their 4-1 win against West Ham United on Saturday.

"We just need to assess that in the next day or so," the Northern Irishman told reporters.

"It was definitely his hamstring. Hopefully it's just a strain and we'll see where we're at in the next 48 hours."

The win moves Rodgers's men up to second in the Premier League.
