Liverpool have reportedly been given the opportunity to sign Argentine defender Ezequiel Garay.
Injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez have left Jurgen Klopp short of experienced options in the centre of defence.
Although Rhys Williams and Nathaniel Phillips have generally impressed when featuring in the first team, Fabinho and Joel Matip are regarded as the favoured partnership.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Merseyside giants were provided with the chance to sign Garay on a free transfer in recent weeks.
However, speaking on his Here We Go podcast, Romano says that Liverpool intend to wait until the start of 2021 before deciding on their next move.
Garay, who suffered a serious knee injury earlier this year, was released by Valencia in the summer.
