Liverpool are reportedly set to revive their interest in Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips.

Liverpool have reportedly reignited their interest in Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips.

After recruiting Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister earlier this summer, Liverpool have been busy working on further additions in the middle of the park.

The Reds failed in their pursuits of both Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, who both opted to join Premier League rivals Chelsea.

Liverpool swiftly turned their attention to Wataru Endo, unveiling the Japan captain as their third summer addition on Friday.

Despite signing Endo for £16.2m from Stuttgart, the Reds are still light in midfield following the departures of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

According to talkSPORT, Liverpool are set to revive their interest in Phillips after being linked with the Englishman earlier this summer.

Phillips had indicated that he was willing to stay and fight for his place following a difficult first season at the Etihad Stadium.

However, Liverpool could potentially test the player's resolve if they are able to offer the England international regular playing time.

The 28-year-old, who joined the Citizens from Leeds United for £42m last summer, started just four of 21 appearances during the 2022-23 campaign.

Phillips's hopes of establishing himself in the side have been dented by Pep Guardiola's decision to leave him on the bench for the club's first four competitive games of the new season.

The Merseyside club are also considering alternative midfield targets, including Netherlands international Ryan Gravenberch.

Liverpool have supposedly held positive talks with German champions Bayern Munich over a deal for the 21-year-old.

Jurgen Klopp's side have also thought to be interested in Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, who continues to be linked with a move away from the Italian club.
