A report claims that Philippe Coutinho may have played his final game for Barcelona, meaning that Liverpool will not receive a £17m appearance-related bonus.

Liverpool are reportedly set to miss out on a £17m payment from Barcelona because of Philippe Coutinho's latest injury setback.

Barca signed the Brazil international in 2018 as part of a package worth £142m, around £106m of which was paid upfront.

It was agreed between the clubs that the remaining sum would be paid in instalments once various performance related add-ons were triggered.

According to Spanish outlet Marca, one of those stipulations was that Barcelona would pay £17m once Coutinho had made 100 appearances for them.

However, the 28-year-old is 10 matches away from reaching that milestone and may have already played his last game for the club.

Coutinho underwent surgery earlier this week and is unlikely to return until July.

Barca head coach Ronald Koeman and president Joan Laporta are believed to be looking to offload the Brazilian before then, meaning a big financial hit for Liverpool.
