Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany 'out for six to eight weeks'

Belgium head coach Marc Wilmots reveals that Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany will be out for six to eight weeks with a calf injury.

Belgium head coach Marc Wilmots has indicated that Vincent Kompany's season is all but over by claiming that the defender faces six to eight weeks out with a calf injury.

The Manchester City captain suffered the problem in the early stages of his team's goalless draw against Dynamo Kiev on Tuesday.

Due to the team's 3-1 win from the first leg, City advanced into the final eight and will take on Paris Saint-Germain in the next round.

City manager Manuel Pellegrini confirmed after the match that Kompany had suffered a calf problem, but it was initially thought that the defender would miss one month.

However, Wilmots told reporters on Friday that the centre-back is out for between six and eight weeks.

Should Kompany be sidelined for the maximum time, then he will only be fit for the final weekend of the Premier League season.
