Samir Nasri: 'I crossed the line with the France team'

Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri regrets his actions that resulted in his getting booted out of the French national side.

Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri has admitted that he regrets his actions that resulted in him being banished from the French national team.

The 26-year-old was hit with a three-match ban during Euro 2012 after blasting the French media following France's poor performance during the competition.

After that, new manager Didier Deschamps decided against picking Nasri over the next 12 months, but the midfielder understands that he was not worthy of a place in the national side.

"For a year I lived in uncertainty but, more importantly, I did not deserve to be recalled," Nasri told L'Equipe. "I had my worst season since turning professional.

"I was proud but inside I was hurting. I've suffered and will never do it again. I particularly regret tarnishing my image with the kids, who looked on me as a superhero. I don't want them to do what I did. I crossed the line."

Nasri is in the squad for France's World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Belarus.
