Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez is adamant that he is no longer needed by the Argentinian national side as there are better forwards than him available for selection.
The 28-year-old failed to earn a single cap for his country in 2012, and has not appeared for his national side since 2011.
With competition for a place in the side from Sergio Aguero, Lionel Messi and Ezequiel Lavezzi among others, Tevez believes that he is surplus to requirements as far as international duty is concerned.
"Nowadays the Argentine national team have better strikers than me," said Tevez.
"A person must have the greatness to say the national team doesn't need him anymore.
"There are players nowadays that are a level above."
City host Fulham at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
