Manchester City's opening offer for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane was reportedly worth £100m, with only £75m guaranteed up front.

The Premier League champions have identified the England captain as their primary target and are keen to complete a deal before the August 31 deadline.

Nevertheless, the Citizens are still around £50m short of Tottenham's valuation and chairman Daniel Levy remains adamant that Kane is not for sale this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, City are expected to launch a fresh bid to land Kane this week, worth around £125m, however there is a feeling inside Spurs that the striker's departure is virtually impossible this summer as Levy will not lower his valuation of the player.

Heading into the final seven days of the transfer window, City are now faced with a three-way conundrum as to whether they should continue their pursuit for Kane, turn their attention to an alternative target or go into the rest of the campaign with the attacking options they already have at their disposal.

After not being included in Tottenham's squad for their opening day win against Man City, Kane came on as a substitute in their 1-0 away win over Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend.
