Pep Guardiola has revealed that Manchester City midfielder David Silva will sit out the midweek Champions League tie with Shakhtar Donetsk and is a fitness doubt to face Manchester United.
The 31-year-old, who signed a one-year contract extension at the Etihad Stadium last week, is currently suffering with a "little problem".
City will definitely be without one of their key playmakers against Shakhtar on Wednesday night - a match that is essentially a dead rubber for the Citizens - and Guardiola is now praying that Silva recovers in time for next Sunday's huge showdown with title rivals United.
Speaking on the eve of the Shakhtar match, Guardiola told reporters: "[Kevin] De Bruyne is suspended tomorrow and Silva has a little problem - I don't know whether he will recover for Sunday."
Guardiola would not elaborate on Silva's injury, but he confirmed that he picked up the problem in the final stages of the 2-1 win over West Ham United - a match in which the Spaniard scored the winner.
