Manchester United could be missing 11 players for Sunday's Premier League clash with Liverpool at Anfield.

Manchester United could be without the services of as many as 11 players for Sunday's Premier League clash with Liverpool at Anfield.

The Red Devils suffered a 3-0 home loss to Bournemouth in the league last weekend, before going down 1-0 to Bayern Munich at Old Trafford in the Champions League on Tuesday.

There is pressure on head coach Erik ten Hag to deliver a positive result against Liverpool on Sunday, but the 20-time English champions could be missing as many as 11 players.

Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez have both stepped up their recoveries from hamstring and foot injuries respectively, but the pair will again definitely be missing this weekend.

Tyrell Malacia is also still recovering from a knee operation, while Christian Eriksen is not yet ready to return from the knee injury which he suffered ahead of the November international break.

Captain Bruno Fernandes is definitely out, with the Portugal international suspended due to the yellow card that he picked up in the three-goal loss to Bournemouth in the league.

Amad Diallo is back in training after a knee issue, but the Ivory Coast international is not yet ready to be considered, while Jadon Sancho remains out of first-team contention due to his high-profile falling-out with Ten Hag, which is expected to lead to a January departure.

Victor Lindelof remains a doubt due to the problem which has seen him miss the last two matches, while Mason Mount also faces a battle to feature despite recently returning to training following a calf issue.

Man United suffered two fresh injuries against Bayern, meanwhile, with Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw both being forced off the field.

Maguire's issue is seemingly related to his groin, while Shaw, who has only just returned from three months out with a muscular problem, appeared to feel his hamstring on Tuesday.

Man United are yet to provide an official update on the duo, but it seems highly unlikely that either will be available due to the nature of their problems.

Raphael Varane was back in the side against Bayern after a spell out of the first XI, and he is also now expected to start against Liverpool this weekend.

Fit-again Jonny Evans could also feature at the back if Lindelof does not recover in time, while there could again be spots in the squad for the likes of Dan Gore and Joe Hugill.

Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford both missed out against Bayern due to illness, but the pair are expected to be back in time for the trip to Jurgen Klopp's team.
