A frustrating summer transfer window has now closed with Manchester United having missed out on a number of their top targets, including Jadon Sancho.
The Red Devils were busy on deadline day, though, bringing in Edinson Cavani, Alex Telles and Facundo Pellistri, in addition to agreeing a deal to sign Amad Traore in January. Attention will now switch to other business they may do when the window reopens in the winter.
Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings from Old Trafford.
Thursday morning's Manchester United transfer talk news roundup:
Manchester United, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Chelsea 'all chasing Samuel Chukwueze'
Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea are among the clubs interested in signing Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze, according to a report.
The 21-year-old has established himself as a regular member of the Villarreal first team in recent seasons, making 37 La Liga appearances in 2019-20 and featuring in all but one of their matches so far this term.
Chukwueze's form in those games has drawn the attention of a host of Europe's top clubs, with Real Madrid thought to be leading the race for his signature.
La Razon claims that Madrid are eyeing a double swoop for Villarreal pair Chukwueze and Pau Torres and are willing to offer €65m (£57.9m) plus a player in exchange.
However, they could face particularly fierce competition for Chukwueze, with as many as six Premier League clubs among those also keeping tabs on the winger.
Manchester United are thought to view the Nigeria international as a possible alternative to Jadon Sancho, while Chelsea, Liverpool, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Everton and Leicester City have also been credited with an interest.
Man United are considered the biggest rivals to Madrid for his signature, although Villarreal are thought to be holding out for his full €80m (£71.3m) release clause to be triggered.
Chukwueze has scored 13 goals and assisted 12 more in 90 appearances for the Yellow Submarine.
Arsenal 'told to pay £45m for Villarreal defender Pau Torres'
Arsenal have reportedly been informed by Villarreal that it will take €50m (£45m) to prise defender Pau Torres away from the club.
The Gunners are thought to be among a number of sides interested in signing the 23-year-old, along with Manchester United and Real Madrid.
Reports from Spain suggest that Madrid are the frontrunners to sign Torres, but Arsenal are also still in the running to nab the 23-year-old.
However, it is claimed that Villarreal have no intention of letting Spain international Torres depart unless his release clause is triggered.
That would mean Arsenal making the centre-back their joint-fourth most expensive signing, alongside Thomas Partey and behind only Nicolas Pepe and Alexandre Lacazette.
Madrid are said to have offered Villarreal a player plus cash for Torres, but the Yellow Submarine are not willing to accept any sort of exchange deal.
