Manchester United's Juan Mata: 'We are on the right track'

Juan Mata "strongly believes" that Manchester United are "on the right track" despite being held to a goalless draw by Burnley at the weekend.

Juan Mata has claimed that Manchester United are "on the right track" despite being held by Burnley at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Jose Mourinho's team have sealed just one victory in seven Premier League games, and they are eight points off the pace in their title campaign.

Against Burnley, United produced 37 shots, but a mixture of poor finishing and impressive goalkeeping from Tom Heaton resigned them to a goalless draw.

Mata has taken positives from the match, though, and believes that their performance plus their victory over Manchester City in the EFL Cup show signs of improvement.

"I strongly believe that the team is on the right track after all the hard work we put on the pitch," Mata wrote in his weekly blog. "We proved that on Wednesday when we defeated Manchester City in the EFL Cup. We came from a tough defeat and the team showed that we are united and we are able to beat anyone.

"It was an important game - we played with confidence and we added that extra effort, intensity and concentration that every game requires. We did it again with Burnley, but we were unable to score. Playing like we did, though, is going to bear fruit sooner or later."

Next up for United is a Europa League match against Fenerbahce.
