Manchester United forward Antony will not represent the Red Devils 'until further notice' amid the allegations against him.

The 23-year-old has been accused by his former partner of attacking her on more than one occasion, while two further women have also made allegations against him.

Brazil removed Antony from their latest international squad, with the Sao Paulo Civil Police and Greater Manchester Police currently conducting their own investigations.

Man United's statement last week acknowledged the situation but did not state that Antony would not represent the club during the investigations.

The situation has now changed, with the 20-time English champions revealing that the forward 'will delay his return until further notice in order to address the allegations'.

Antony will not play or train, with the decision being made between Antony and the club.

The former Ajax attacker has not been suspended, rather given a leave of absence, and according to The Independent, Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag was consulted on the situation.

"Manchester United acknowledges the allegations made against Antony. Players who have not participated in international matches are due back in training on Monday," read a statement on the club's official website.

"However, it has been agreed with Antony that he will delay his return until further notice in order to address the allegations.

"As a club we condemn acts of violence and abuse. We recognise the importance of safeguarding all those involved in this situation, and acknowledge the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse."

Meanwhile, Antony said in a statement: "I have agreed with Manchester United to take a period of absence while I address the allegations made against me.

"This was a mutual decision to avoid distraction to my teammates and unnecessary controversy for the club.

"I want to reiterate my innocence of the things I have been accused of, and I will fully cooperate with the police to help them reach the truth. I look forward to returning to play as soon as possible."

Antony's former partner, Gabriela Cavallin, criticised Man United's decision not to suspend him amid the allegations, which are related to supposed incidents in both Brazil and Manchester, with the most serious of those said to have happened in a Manchester hotel in January.
