David Moyes: 'Manchester United will still attract star players'

Manchester United manager David Moyes insists that the club does not need Champions League football to attract star players.

Manchester United boss David Moyes has insisted that the club will still attract star players despite not being able to offer Champions League football next season.

The Red Devils crashed out of the competition following their 3-1 defeat to Bayern Munich on Wednesday evening, but the Scot does not believe that their European absence will harm his prospects in the transfer market.

"The club has never had any problem [attracting players]. They've always been looking to spend the right money on the right players if they're available," he told Sky Sports News.

"It has nothing to do with Champions League football and any players we've sort of quietly discussed with are more than happy to join Manchester United.

"The ones who we quietly have had a word in their ear have all been keen to come because they know it's a short thing [not being in the Champions League]. It's not a long thing and they're all very keen to join such a great club."

United are currently seventh in the Premier League table, seven points away from the Champions League positions with five matches remaining.
