Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham has played down claims suggesting he is seeking a transfer to Liverpool.

Former Premier League midfielder Craig Hignett recently stated that a move to Anfield for the 18-year-old is "almost a cert".

Speaking to BBC Radio Merseyside via LFC Transfer Room, Hignett said: "I think I've heard it on good authority and I can't say where I've heard it from, but apparently he has been saying that he is Liverpool bound.

"Whether that is January or whether that is the end of the season isn't sure yet, but I think, I have it on good authority that it is almost a cert."

However, Bellingham has since shared his amusement of the transfer links with a post on Twitter, as shown by the Daily Mirror, posting a GIF of himself laughing while away on international duty with England.

The teenager – who has since deleted the tweet – has cemented his place in Dortmund's first team this season, starting in all 16 matches for the German giants across all competitions.

Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea have all been credited with an interest in the Birmingham-born midfielder, who is valued by Dortmund at around £101m.
