Rasmus Hojlund will reportedly travel to Manchester on Tuesday to undergo a medical ahead of completing his proposed move to Manchester United from Atalanta BC.

Rasmus Hojlund will reportedly travel to the UK on Tuesday to undergo a medical ahead of completing his proposed move to Manchester United from Atalanta BC.

After several weeks of negotiations, reports emerged over the weekend that the Red Devils have reached an agreement with the Serie A club to sign Hojlund for £72m, including an initial payment of £64m plus a further £8m in performance-related add-ons.

United have moved ahead of Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign the 20-year-old after the Ligue 1 champions failed with an offer of £43m last week.

The Denmark international has earmarked Old Trafford as his preferred destination and he has already agreed to put pen to paper on a five-year contract with the option to extend by a further 12 months.

According to The Athletic, Hojlund will travel to Manchester on Tuesday to undergo his medical ahead of completing a transfer to the Red Devils.

Meanwhile, a separate report from Sky Sports News claims that Man United are keen for Hojlund to finalise his move in time for the striker to feature in one of the club's final two pre-season fixtures.

Man United are scheduled to face French club Lens at Old Trafford on Saturday before travelling to the Aviva Stadium in Dublin to take on La Liga side Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.

The news of Atalanta's agreement to sell Hojlund came shortly after the Italian club announced the signing of Almeria striker El Bilal Toure for a reported £25m last weekend.

Hojlund is set to become the latest big-money arrival to join Erik ten Hag's side this summer, following the £60m addition of midfielder Mason Mount from Chelsea and the £47.2m signing of goalkeeper Andre Onana from Inter Milan.

Man United playmaker Christian Eriksen recently talked up his Danish compatriot Hojlund, stating that the striker is a "very good player" who has come on leaps and bounds in recent months.

"What's he like? He's a strong number nine," Eriksen told Sky Sports News. "He's developed a lot in the last year from when I first saw him with the national team [to] a year's time, so, yeah, he's a very good player."

Asked if Hojlund's rapid rise has gone under the radar, Eriksen added: "I suppose we don't get enough media attention in Denmark that's why, so people outside Denmark don't know enough.

"[Hojlund is] a nice guy, he's a good player. Like I said, he's developed, turning into just a nine, which he's played for the national team. I have to be honest I haven't seen that many games for Atalanta, but I know how they play and he fitted in well there, so, yeah, he's a good player."

Hojlund initially made his mark in Austria with Sturm Graz, scoring 12 goals in 21 games during a six-month spell in 2022 before joining Atalanta for around £15m last summer.

The 6ft 3in striker then netted 10 times in 34 appearances in his debut campaign for Atalanta in 2022-23, including eight Serie A goals during the second half of the season.

It is thought that Man United will turn their attention to Fiorentina lynchpin Sofyan Amrabat as soon as they have completed the signing of Hojlund, although players including Harry Maguire, Donny van de Beek, Scott McTominay and Fred may be forced to move on to balance the books.
