Manchester United are reportedly monitoring Napoli attacker Hirving Lozano, who could be allowed to leave the Serie A club in January.

Manchester United are reportedly keeping tabs on the situation of Napoli attacker Hirving Lozano.

The Mexico international left PSV Eindhoven for a £40.5m fee in the summer of 2019 to join the Partenopei and has appeared in 121 games for the Serie A side in all competitions since.

Lozano has come up with 26 goals and 14 assists for Napoli in that time, helping his side to Coppa Italia glory during his inaugural 2019-20 season.

However, the 27-year-old is yet to complete the full 90 minutes of a league match this season, having been largely overshadowed by the instant impact of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Matteo Politano was also preferred on the right-hand side of the attack during Napoli's 2-1 win over Scudetto holders AC Milan before the international break, with Lozano an unused substitute.

The former Pachuca youngster is also out of contract in Naples in the summer of 2024, leading to speculation that he could be sold within the next several months.

According to Marca - via Corriere dello Sport - Napoli are willing to listen to offers for Lozano in January, and Manchester United are among the clubs monitoring his situation.

The Red Devils will face stiff competition for the attacker's signature, though, as Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and Everton are all eyeing up a potential winter swoop.

Lozano has supposedly been left unhappy with his game time at Napoli this season, and he feels that he has firmly dropped behind Politano in Luciano Spalletti's pecking order.

Bayern are understood to be the favourites to sign the Mexican, who would command a fee of at least €30m (£26.9m) to leave the Partenopei in the January transfer window.

There is currently uncertainty whether Man United will be active in January, though, as the Red Devils board are reportedly reluctant to splash the cash after their lucrative summer spending.

Man United spent big to reinforce their attack with the signing of Antony from Ajax back in August, and Erik ten Hag is familiar with Lozano from their time in the Eredivisie together.

Lozano has also garnered experience playing through the middle, which would be beneficial to the Red Devils amid Anthony Martial's injury concerns and Cristiano Ronaldo's lack of action.

Marcus Rashford has been trusted to lead the line so far this term and has repaid Ten Hag's faith in him, scoring three goals and setting up two more in six Premier League outings so far.

The England international picked up a muscular injury prior to the international break, but Man United are supposedly optimistic that he will be available to face Manchester City in Sunday's Manchester derby.
