Manchester United offer new deal to Juan Mata?

Manchester United reportedly decide to offer a new contract to Juan Mata, who has less than six months remaining on his existing deal.

Manchester United have reportedly decided to offer a new contract to Juan Mata.

The midfielder has made 207 appearances in all competitions since joining United in January 2014, but the Spaniard now has less than six months remaining on his deal.

Arsenal and Barcelona have both been linked with an approach for the 30-year-old, but according to ESPN, United have made an attempt to prevent the Spaniard leaving on a free transfer.

The report claims that United are prepared to offer Mata a 12-month extension to his current correct, while any fresh terms are likely to include a further year in United's favour.

Mata is unlikely to be in any rush to sign on the dotted line, with it currently unclear who will be named as the club's next full-time manager.
