Manchester United are reportedly contemplating whether to make a formal approach for Monaco defender Axel Disasi.
Since being appointed as the club's new boss ahead of 2022-23, Erik ten Hag has been provided with the leeway to make changes to his first-team squad.
Five notable additions were made during the Dutchman's opening transfer window in charge, including that of centre-back Lisandro Martinez.
However, with the future of Harry Maguire remaining uncertain, the Premier League giants could be in the market for a replacement during January or in the summer.
According to the Daily Mail, United have little intention of allowing Maguire to depart Old Trafford at the midway point of the campaign.

Nevertheless, the same report claims that United are giving consideration to moving for Disasi, who featured in France's 26-player World Cup squad.
The 24-year-old has started almost every game for Monaco this season, making 24 starts and one substitute outing in all competitions.
Monaco paid €13m when they secured his signature in August 2020, the player initially making an impression for Reims after helping them to promotion to Ligue 1.
Like with Benoit Badiashile, who joined Chelsea on Thursday, however, there is an expectation that Disasi will eventually leave Stade Louis II.

The report says that a departure is likely in the current transfer window or in the summer, the latter appearing most likely due to Badiashile's departure.
Disasi still has two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract, providing Monaco with some breathing space with regards to a sale.
Although United are said to have held preliminary discussions about a transfer, several other English clubs are said to be in the running for the player's signature.
Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United have also been credited with an interest at a time when they have each struggled defensively in the Premier League.
