Monaco boss Claudio Ranieri has blasted Nampalys Mendy for his decision to depart the club.
The 20-year-old, who is regarded as one of the best young talents in world football, has reportedly decided to leave the French outfit on a free transfer this summer.
"I do not understand his attitude. As soon as I saw him play, I said here is our [Claude] Makelele. I trusted him and I played him," Ranieri told reporters at a press conference.
"I think he will miss out on a great deal. But it's his life, not mine. He has preferred to listen to his brother and agent and not his coach. It's a shame."
The holding midfielder has reportedly attracted the interest of Manchester United.
