Newcastle United no longer intend to pursue Manchester United's Jesse Lingard, according to a report.
The England international had been linked with a move away from Old Trafford recently, with a potential move to the Magpies having been heavily rumoured.
Lingard is out of contract with the Red Devils at the end of the season, but he has decided to stay with the club and continue to fight for his place in the team, according to The Athletic.
The report also states that this decision has now led to Newcastle stepping down from their pursuit of the attacking midfielder, with the club now set to place their focus on other people.
Eddie Howe is looking to strengthen his team in the upcoming January transfer market, with the Magpies currently 19th in the Premier League, having only won once this season.
The 29-year-old has made eight appearances in the top flight this season, scoring twice for Manchester United, while he has also played three times in the Champions League.
