Lee Sharpe backs his former club Manchester United's alleged pursuit of Borussia Dortmund attacker Jadon Sancho.

Borussia Dortmund attacker Jadon Sancho has the potential to "light up Old Trafford" should he join Manchester United, according to former Red Devils midfielder Lee Sharpe.

Sancho will allegedly leave BVB during this summer's transfer window, and United are believed to be the 19-year-old's number one choice.

Sharpe lavished praise on the teenager when asked about his qualities, and the pundit insisted that the former Manchester City youngster would "fit in great" at the club.

"He's one of the hottest properties in football at the moment. In his last ten games he's scored eight and created eight. Incredible stats," Sharpe told Sky Sports News. "And it's not just that he's been doing it for a couple of months, he's been doing it for a few seasons now.

"He's proven he's got consistency, he's proven he can do it week after week at a high level and this is the sort of player that United as a team and United as a group of fans that you want your club to be linked with. I think he's a fantastic player and would fit in great at United.

"He's done it for a few seasons now, he's created chances, he's making defenders look foolish, he's scoring his fair share of goals and he's showing he's the complete player.

"His work ethic is fantastic and he's the sort of player you want at your club and I'm sure United won't be the only club chasing him. Fingers crossed they get him and he can light up Old Trafford next season."

Sancho, who has also been linked with Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Barcelona and Liverpool, has scored 15 times and contributed 17 assists in 29 appearances at club level this term.
