Southampton have turned down a £20m bid from Manchester United for midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, according to a report.
The France international, who is said to be wanted by a number of top European clubs, has openly admitted that he would like to play Champions League football this coming season.
It is suggested by The Telegraph that the Red Devils' opening offer for the 25-year-old has been knocked back, falling some way short of Southampton's rumoured £30m valuation.
Both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are thought to have made approaches for Schneiderlin last summer, but the same report suggests that neither are willing to enter a bidding war with United.
Louis van Gaal's side have also been tipped with a move for Bayern Munich's World Cup-winning midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger.
