Elie Baup happy with Marseille goals

Elie Baup says that he was pleased with Marseille for taking their chances against Saint-Etienne in Ligue 1 on Tuesday night.

Marseille coach Elie Baup has expressed his satisfaction at his side's victory over Saint-Etienne on Tuesday night.

Benjamin Mendy and Giannelli Imbula scored their first goals for to club to help Les Phoceens pick up an entertaining 2-1 win over Les Verts at the Stade Velodrome.

Having tasted defeat in recent matches against Monaco and Arsenal, Baup is pleased that Marseille are becoming more prolific in front of goal.

"It's true that we didn't turn our good first-halves against Monaco and Arsenal into goals," Baup told reporters. "Today, we managed to do that, to score those two goals.

"We've put in place that way of playing since the start of the season and to turn it into goals is promising. In the second half, we had to contain our opponents. To put in so much effort throughout 94 minutes isn't easy.

"We have 14 points after seven games. We're going to try and continue picking up points in the matches to come."

Marseille make the trip to Lorient on Saturday.
