Rafael Benitez: 'Napoli are still maturing'

Rafael Benitez claims that Napoli are still maturing, after watching his side return to form with a 4-0 victory over Trabzonspor in the Europa League.

Rafael Benitez has claimed that the 4-0 victory over Trabzonspor in the Europa League is proof that his Napoli side are still maturing.

Napoli recovered from Sunday's disappointing 3-1 defeat to Palermo in style as they cruised to an emphatic triumph in the first leg of their last-32 tie, and Benitez is happy with the progress being made by his players.

"We made mistakes in Palermo but the overall performance was good," the Spaniard told Mediaset Premium. "But today we did everything right. Let's not forget we were consistent with four consecutive victories until we lost at Palermo.

"We still lack the maturity to play every game well. It's an issue of experience and being accustomed to victory. We're still growing.

"It wasn't easy against Trabzonspor. We decided to keep playing the same tempo even after going 3-0 up. That led to us getting the fourth goal and I am satisfied. We did well throughout the game and were in complete control."

Napoli return to action against Sassuolo in Serie A on Monday.
