Luis Figo has insisted that Sepp Blatter's decision to not reveal his plans for FIFA's future shows that the current president is living in the past.
The 79-year-old Swiss is the favourite to be reinstated as the head of football's world governing body at this month's election, although Michael van Praag, Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein and Figo will each provide stern opposition.
Blatter, who has acted as FIFA president for the past 17 years, has yet to present an election programme, which has led to one of his rivals taking a swipe at the 79-year-old's lack of future plans.
"I think it's a surprise because in all elections there's always a programme about the organisation's future and football's future," Figo told Perform.
"So it's a surprise one of the candidates have not presented a programme. It's weird. Maybe it's because he doesn't think about the future. I've heard in some events he only talks about the past.
"I think it's more important to look at the future and think about ways to improve, to become more efficient in what already exists and try to plan a better future."
The FIFA presidential election takes place on May 29.
