Bayer Leverkusen striker Eren Derdiyok will be out for three weeks after sustaining a foot injury in a freak bathroom incident.
The player, who has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United, accidentally knocked the glass in which he used to keep his toothbrush onto his bathroom floor.
The Switzerland international attempted to tidy up the wreckage, but stood on a shard of glass which cut his foot open.
Derdiyok received seven stitches at hospital, where doctors told him he would be unable to play for at least three weeks.
He told Bild: "This is obviously very annoying, but I'm certainly not the first person it has happened to."
The injury means the 23-year-old will miss the home leg of Leverkusen's last 32 Champions League tie with Barcelona.
