Adlene Guedioura's debut goal was enough to give Nottingham Forest a 1-0 win over Bristol City at the City Ground this afternoon.
In a first half that was bereft of chances Bristol's Albert Adomah had the best, but his shot was well saved by Forest keeper Lee Camp.
As both teams struggled to carve out anything of note, Forest manager Sean O'Driscoll sent on new signing Simon Cox in place of Lewis McGugan on 66 minutes, and it was the former West Brom striker who provided the assist.
Former Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Guedioura was the game's standout performer and he capped a fine debut with a low drive into the right-hand corner on 70 minutes.
Bristol manager Dereck McInness sent on Paul Anderson and Brett Pitman in a bid to rescue a point, but Guedioura's goal was enough.
