Thiago Silva 'desperate' for new Paris Saint-Germain deal

Paris Saint-Germain centre-back Thiago Silva reveals that he is 'desperate' to sign a new contract at Parc des Princes.

Thiago Silva has revealed that he has "a deep desire" to sign a new contract at Paris Saint-Germain, despite speculation that the centre-back was heading for the exit door at Parc des Princes.

The 32-year-old will be out of contract at the end of the 2016-17 campaign, and it has been reported that AC Milan and Chelsea both want to sign the veteran on a free transfer.

Silva, however, has confirmed that he wants to pen an extension in Paris and is hopeful that an agreement will be concluded "in the coming days".

"For now there is nothing signed. My contract expires at the end of the season. We expect an appointment for us to make a decision. You always play better when the contract is signed," Silva told France Football.

"I have a deep desire to stay in Paris, I feel good. The club allowed me to stay among the best defenders in the world. I just hope [it] will be done as soon as possible. We have already lost a lot of time. I hope it will be concluded in the coming days."

Silva, who is a 59-time Brazil international, made 45 appearances for PSG last season as the French giants retained their Ligue 1 crown in addition to triumphing in both the Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue.
