Nigel Adkins optimistic about future after latest Reading defeat

Nigel Adkins is confident that Reading can return to form soon following Tuesday's defeat to Bournemouth.

Reading manager Nigel Adkins has insisted that he is confident his side will return to form soon following their latest disappointment in the Championship.

A 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Tuesday night saw the Royals extend their winless run to seven matches, and Adkins accepts that speculation over his job security will increase due to the recent results.

"Everybody is well aware of how football works and if you lose a couple of games in this division you're under pressure," the Reading boss told reporters. "But I try not to really think about that because we as a club have to think about long-term footballing aims.

"But yes you do also have to think short term because you need to get a win as soon as possible to stop questions being asked.

"Our injury list has been well documented over the past few weeks and months but those players are nearing fitness now so hopefully it will soon change."

Reading, who are currently 17th, host Blackpool on Saturday afternoon.
