Mateo Kovacic 'glad to leave Inter Milan'

Croatian international Mateo Kovacic reveals that he was desperate to leave Inter Milan for Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

Mateo Kovacic has revealed that he was glad to leave Inter Milan in the summer because he "had no rapport" with head coach Roberto Mancini.

The Croatian, who moved to Real Madrid in the most recent transfer window, has also criticised the training sessions that took place at Inter, branding work without the ball "really boring".

"It was an honour to play for Inter, but without a doubt Real Madrid are of a higher level. In Italy the training sessions are really boring and sometimes you don't even use the ball," Kovacic told Sportske Novosti.

"I had no rapport with Mancini, neither positive nor negative. I am not sure that he wanted me in the squad. I don't know what he thought when I left. In any case, I was happy to leave Inter, because I don't know how it would've ended up there."

Kovacic, 21, initially joined Inter from Dinamo Zagreb in 2013.
