Ashley Williams: 'Gareth Bale has improved since Real Madrid switch'

Wales captain Ashley Williams believes that winger Gareth Bale has improved since his summer switch to Real Madrid.

Wales captain Ashley Williams has revealed that the only change to Gareth Bale since his move to Real Madrid has been a further improvement on the pitch.

Bale moved to the La Liga giants for a world-record transfer fee of £85m during the summer, but Williams has insisted that the former Tottenham Hotspur player's attitude has not changed since the lucrative switch.

The 29-year-old is quoted by SportingLife.com as saying: "There's no difference, he's the same guy. I don't think that he will ever change. He is a nice, genuine lad.

"He's here the same as everybody else, the same as before. Nobody is treating him differently and he's not acting any differently.

"Playing with those type of players at Madrid, it is probably only natural that he has got better - if that is possible. So I am looking forward to playing with him again."

Williams and Bale could feature when Wales play Iceland on Wednesday evening.
