Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has reportedly set his sights on signing Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez.
The Argentina international has scored 19 goals and provided 11 assists for Inter Milan in all competitions this season, which has attracted interest from Atletico and their Spanish rivals Real Madrid.
However despite the interest in Martinez, he has played down rumours that have linked him with a move away from Italy, as he still has two years left on his contract at the Giuseppe Meazza.
Spanish outlet AS report that Simeone has asked Atletico to pursue the 23-year-old, but there may be barriers for the La Liga champions as Inter value Martinez at £70m.
Inter Milan chief Steven Zhang has admitted that the club will have to sell players this summer after entering financial difficulties due to the global pandemic, but that does not mean that he will allow integral players to leave cheaply.
Since joining Inter in 2018, Martinez has scored 49 goals and produced 20 assists in 132 appearances for the club.
