Real Madrid prepare to offer Spanish midfielder Dani Ceballos a contract extension at Bernabeu, according to a report.

Real Madrid are reportedly preparing to offer Dani Ceballos a contract extension, with the midfielder set to be rewarded for his impressive form over the last few weeks.

The 26-year-old's deal at Bernabeu is due to expire at the end of June, and there has been a host of speculation surrounding his future at the club.

Ceballos has been a regular for Real Madrid this season, featuring on 24 occasions in all competitions, contributing one goal and six assists in the process.

The Spaniard has benefited from Aurelien Tchouameni's injury problems to feature on a consistent basis, while Toni Kroos and Luka Modric are no longer considered to be automatic starters in every match.

Ceballos has actually started six of Real Madrid's last seven La Liga matches, and he is again in line to feature against Osasuna on Saturday night.

According to El Mundo, the midfielder has done enough to earn a contract offer, with Real Madrid set to place a deal on the table in the near future.

The report claims that the offer is set to be €5m (£4.5m) a season, but Ceballos wants to know that he will continue to receive regular football next season if he signs the contract.

Modric and Kroos both only have deals at Bernabeu until the end of June, but Real Madrid are still well-stocked in central midfield with the likes of Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde, while Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham is said to be a big-money summer transfer target.

Ceballos is believed to have recently turned down offers from the Premier League, with the midfielder determined to continue his stay in the Spanish capital.

"I won't get involved in that, the club knows very well what I think," Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti recently told reporters when asked for his view on a possible extension.

"There is no bigger club than Madrid. I have four months left on my contract, but I am going to give everything to show that I want to stay here. I have to grit my teeth and show that I have the level to play here," Ceballos told Real Madrid TV last month.

"I had a great second half against Villarreal and I helped the team with a nice comeback. The coach then asked me to start.

"I have provided energy and desire and I have shown it on the pitch. I am very happy for the victory, especially in this very difficult stadium."

Ceballos has been with Real Madrid since 2017, arriving from fellow La Liga outfit Real Betis, but he spent the 2019-20 and 2020-21 campaigns on loan at Arsenal in the Premier League.

As well as Ceballos, Kroos and Modric, Karim Benzema, Marco Asensio, Nacho and Mariano Diaz only have contracts with the Spanish and European champions until the end of June.
