Jokin Apperibay: 'Carlos Vela keen to stay at Real Sociedad'

Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay insists that Carlos Vela wants to stay at the club.

Real Sociedad has insisted that Carlos Vela is not pushing to leave the club this summer.

After scoring 16 goals for Sociedad last season, Vela has been linked with a return to Arsenal, who are believed to have the option to buy back the Mexican after selling him in 2012.

However, the latest comments from Sociedad's president suggest that the 25-year-old would be happy to remain in La Liga for another campaign.

"We are fortunate that the player is keen to stay in San Sebastian with us and that's an important factor for Real Sociedad," Apperibay told reporters.

Reports last week suggested that Atletico Madrid were also interested in Vela.
