Tottenham Hotspur's Christian Eriksen: Finishing third "hurts a lot"

Christian Eriksen expresses his disappointment after Tottenham Hotspur drop down to third place, below rivals Arsenal.

Christian Eriksen has admitted that it "hurts a lot" to see his Tottenham Hotspur side finish third in the Premier League.

All Spurs needed to secure second spot was a point from their trip to Newcastle United this afternoon.

However, they were thrashed 5-1 by the relegated Magpies, which allowed North London rivals Arsenal to jump above them.

"It hurts a lot. The last four games we needed one more point and we can only blame ourselves for the last four games," Eriksen told Sky Sports News.

"It is maybe good to have a break now and concentrate on other stuff and keep our head really open for next season and be even better."

Spurs last finished above Arsenal during the 1994-95 season.
