David Ginola hits out at Tottenham Hotspur players

David Ginola accuses Tottenham Hotspur's seven summer signings of not understanding the history of the club.

David Ginola has criticised Tottenham Hotspur's crop of new players by accusing them of not understanding the history of the North London outfit.

The club brought in seven new first-team stars following the £85m sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

However, following a number of disappointing results, including a 5-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday, head coach Andre Villas-Boas was sacked.

"You need to understand the history of the club," Ginola told talkSPORT. "Who were the former players? Who are legends of the club? You have to understand where you are.

"When you are wearing the jersey, it is not only about your wages. It is not thinking only of yourself. When I was there on Sunday, I felt for the fans. They lost 5-0 and I was there thinking this is absolutely terrible because I didn't see any reaction."

Tim Sherwood has taken temporary charge of the first team as the club search for a permanent successor.
